1. The Godfather 1972
Starring: Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Richard S. Castellano, Robert Towne and Diane Keaton.
Based on the novel of the same name by Mario Puzo and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, the story spans ten years from 1945 to 1955 and choronicles the fictional Italian American Corleone crime family.
Two sequels followed: The Godfather Part II in 1974 and The Godfather Part III in 1990.
2. Goodfellas 1990
Starring: Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Ray Liotta.
Based on the non-fiction book Wiseguy by Pileggi and directed by Martin Scorsese, the film follows the rise and fall of three gangsters, spanning three decades.
3. Bugsy Mallone 1976
Starring: Scott Baio, Florrie Dugger and Jodie Foster.
A gangster movie where all the gangsters are children. Instead of real bullets they use "splurge guns" that cover the victim in cream.
Directed by Alan Parker, the story tells of the rise of "Bugsy Malone" and the battle for power between "Fat Sam" and "Dandy Dan".
4. Gomorrah 2008
Award winning Italian film directed by Matteo Garrone and based on the book by Roberto Saviano, the film deals with the Neapolitan crime syndicate known as the Camorra, which is based in Naples and Caserta.
5. Scareface 1983
Starring: Al Pacino, Steven Bauer and Michelle Pfeiffer.
Epic crime drama film directed by Brian De Palma, written by Oliver Stone, the film tells the story of a fictional Cuban refugee who comes to Florida in 1980 as a result of the Mariel Boatlift.
Montana becomes a gangster against the backdrop of the 1980s cocaine boom. The film chronicles his rise to the top of Miami’s criminal underworld and subsequent downfall in tragic Greek fashion.
6. Casino 1995
Starring: Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Sharon Stones.
The inner-workings of a corrupt Las Vegas casino are exposed in Martin Scorsese’s story of crime and punishment.
Greed, deception, money, power, and murder occur between two mobster best friends and a trophy wife over a gambling empire.
7. Get Carter 1971
Starring: Michael Caine
Get Carter stars Michael Caine as Jack Carter, a powerful British gangster out for blood. His brother has been murdered in Newcastle, prompting Carter to declare a one-man war on other racketeers.
8. The Long Good Friday 1980
Starring: Bob Hoskins and Helen Mirren.
British gangster film, it chronicles the story of a prosperous gangster who controls a criminal empire and whose world falls apart over the course of one week.
9. The Krays 1990
Starring: Billie Whitelaw, Tom Bell and Gary Kemp.
A portrayal of The Kray Twins, synonymous with the East End of London during the 1950s and 60s and renowned as Britain's most notorious gangsters to rule London's underworld.
10. Mesrine 2008
Starring: Vincent Cassel
An epic gangster film, in two parts, about the life of France's most notorious criminal, Jacques Mesrine, guilty of 39 crimes.
Mesrine's criminal career spanned nearly two decades of brazen bank robberies, breathtaking prison breaks and ingenious identity changes.
Perrier's Bounty is released 26th March.
