For decades our favourite stories have been brought to life on the big screen; to celebrate the impending release of Now Is Good starring Dakota Fanning and hitting cinemas September 19th, we’re taking a look at some of our favourite book to film adaptations...
- Harry Potter (2001-2011)
Over the last ten years, the undoubtedly most well-known children’s series has made its way onto the screen.
Featuring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint as Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley respectively, the film series has earned not only critical acclaim, but also huge box office bucks.

- The Hunger Games (Gary Ross, 2012-?)
With only the first film out from the three-part series, it’s already clear that The Hunger Games film franchise will take cinemas by storm.
The trilogy follows Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and her life in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic nation called Panem.
The first film was a huge success that garnered extremely positive reviews and massive box office numbers. Watch out for Catching Fire, the second film in the series, out in November 2013!

- The Twilight Saga (Catherine Hardwicke, 2008-2012)
The four fantasy novels adapted into five massive blockbusters (the last instalment ready to hit the screen this November) have kicked off a massive vampire craze.
The series, which tails the heated relationship of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) the human and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) the vampire, has done very well in print as well as in film.

- Submarine (Richard Ayoade, 2010)
This lovably quirky coming-of-age novel turned film recounts the story of 15-year-old Oliver Tate while he peruses his infatuation with classmate Jordana and attempts to keep his parents relationship steady.
The film was praised by critics for its success in capturing an adolescent moment without trying too hard.

- The Notebook (Nick Cassavetes, 2004)
Starring Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling, this classic tear jerker made the perfect transition from page to screen.
The film documents the passionate love affair between Noah (Gosling) and Allie (McAdams) in the 1940s. The film has made the love story of the two one of the most loved in modern cinema.

- Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (Mel Stuart, 1971)
A childhood favourite, the age old novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, by Roald Dahl was turned into cinema and opened up a magnificent magical world.
Starring Gene Wilder as Wonka himself, the original film has inspired remakes and even musical adaptations.

- Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001)
This down-to-earth romantic comedy starring Renée Zellweger , who plays the accident prone, thirty-something lovable character of Bridget Jones.
The story follows her through her awkward experiences with two men: Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant), her slimy yet charming boss, and Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), an old family friend. The feel-good film was the perfect rendition of the much loved book.

- Now Is Good (2012)
Adapted from the novel Before I Die, by Jenny Downham, Now Is Good follows the sad but inspiring story of Tessa.
Tessa is seventeen and passionate about life. Diagnosed with a terminal illness, she determines to use every moment, compiling a catalogue of what a normal teenager would experience. With the help of her friend Zoey, she sets the list in motion.
While her family deals with fear and grief, each in their own way, Tessa explores a whole new world. Falling in love with Adam, her new neighbour, wasn't on the list, but it proves to be the most exhilarating experience of them all.
