After looking at the superhero movies that will be gracing the big screen next year our look at 2013 film continues.
Today we look at some of the action movies that you should be getting excited about
- A Good Day to Die Hard
John McClane is one of the most iconic characters in this genre and remains Bruce Willis' most famous and popular role.
And six years after Die Hard 4 the actor is reprising the role once again for A Good Day to Die Hard
Filming on the movie is still underway and it promises to be another family affair for McClane.
This time around with see him team up with his son John Jr, played by Jai Courtney as they take on local forces in Russia.
This time around John Moore is in the director's chair while Amaury Nolasco and Cole Hauser are also on the cast list.
A Good Day to Die Hard is released 14th February
- G.I. Joe: Retaliation
Now it's fair to say that G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra was the biggest hit when it was released back in 2009 but the studio is giving it another go... and they are bringing in some action heavyweights.
Bruce Willis fans are set to be delighted as we are going to be seeing plenty of him in the early stage of 2013 as he is one of the new additions.
Throw in Dwayne Johnson as well as Channing Tatum returning to the role of Captain Duke Hauser and this move may promise more than its predecessor.
Director Jon M. Chu is not known for his action movies having worked on the likes of Step Up 2 and Justin Bieber: Never Say Never while Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have penned the script.
In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence
G.I. Joe: Retaliation is released 29th March
- Empire State
Liam Hemsworth fans are going to be delighted at the news that we will also be seeing plenty of him next year.
One of his first projects to look out for will be Empire State - which also sees Dwayne Johnson back on the big screen.
The movie is directed by Dito Montiel, which is his first movie since The Son of No One, and follows two friends who plan to rob an armoured car depository.
Johnson is set to take on the role of the NYPD officer who stands in their way. Emma Roberts, Nikki Reed and Michael Angarano are all also on the cast list.
Empire State is set for a U.S. release of 10th June
- R.I.P.D.
There has been a bit of a lack of Ryan Reynolds on the big screen of late and you are going to have to wait until next summer to see him in R.I.P.D.
The actor has teamed up with director Robert Schwentke to bring an adaptation or Rest In Peace Department by Peter M. Lenkov to the big screen.
The movie blends action, comedy and crime and promises to be one of the movies not to miss next summer.
A recently slain cop joins a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department and tries to find the man who murdered him.
Mary-Louise Parker, Kevin Bacon, Jeff Bridges and Robert Knepper are all on board.
R.I.P.D is released 21st June
- The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
We have already discussed one Liam Hemsworth project but The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is the most eagerly anticipated of his movies in 2013.
He will be reprising the role of Gale while Jennifer Lawrence is back as Katniss and Josh Hemsworth and Peeta.
The trio are put to the test once again when Katniss and Peeta are forced to go back into the Games and compete in the Quarter Quell.
Jena Malone and Philip Seymour Hoffman are just two of the new faces we will be seeing on the cast list while there is also a new face in the director's chair in the form of Francis Lawrence.
The Hunger Games has been one of the most successful movies of the year so far and excitement over the sequel is already gathering pace.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is released 22nd November
- The Tomb
We may be enjoying Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger joining forces this week in The Expendables 2 but they are also set to star together in The Tomb.
