We Need To Talk About Kevin

Tilda Swinton returns to the big screen this week with We Need To Talk About Kevin, which is directed by Lynne Ramsey.

Swinton is one of the most striking and versatile actresses who is currently working in Hollywood - who never sticks to just one genre.

So to celebrate the release of her new movie we take a look back over her career and some of her most famous roles.

We Need To Talk About Kevin

We Need To Talk About Kevin is a big screen adaptation of the 2003 novel of the same name by Lionel Shriver.

The film sees her team up with funnyman John C. Reilly and up and coming star Ezra Miller.

The mother of a teenage boy who went on a high-school killing spree tries to deal with her grief -- and feelings of responsibility for her child's actions -- by writing to her estranged husband.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

David Fincher's movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was one of the best movies to grace the big screen back in 2009, going on to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar.

Swinton took on the role of Elizabeth Abbott who meets Benjamin when he is very young, although looks old.

Although it was a brief stint in the movie Swinton won the  London Film Critics Circle Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Burn after Reading

In 2008 she teamed up with Joel and Ethan Coen in the black comedy movie Burn after Reading, which also starred Brad Pitt and George Clooney.

A disk containing the memoirs of a CIA agent ends up in the hands of two unscrupulous gym employees who attempt to sell it.

The comedy is full of lies, deceit, affairs. plotting and murder - Swinton went on to be nominated for a Bafta.

Michael Clayton

2007 movie Michael Clayton remains one of Swinton's most famous and successful roles as she teamed up with Clooney and director Tony Gilroy.

A law firm brings in its "fixer" to remedy the situation after a lawyer has a breakdown while representing a chemical company that he knows is guilty in a multi-billion dollar class action suit.

For her role as Karen Crowder, Swinton picked up the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress as well as the Bafta and a string of critics awards.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

Swinton turned her hand to the blockbuster in 2005 as she took on the role of the White Witch in  Andrew Adamson's adaptation of the popular novel.

Swinton proved that she was the perfect villain as she took on Lucy, Edmund, Peter, Susan and Aslan.

The movie was a massive box office success as it grossed in excess of $745 million; she has appeared in the two sequels Prince Caspian and Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

Young Adam

Swinton got up close and personal with Ewan McGregor in David Mckenzie's 2003 movie Young Adam.

The crisis of Joe--a young drifter who finds work on a barge owned by the down-to-earth Les and his enigmatic wife Ella.

One afternoon Joe and Les happen upon the corpse of a young woman floating in the water and the questions begin. Accident? Suicide? Murder?

As the police investigate the case and a suspect is arrested, it becomes evident that Joe knows more about the drowned woman.

We Need To Talk About Kevin is released 21st October
