Seth Rogen has had a rapid rise to the A-List. His latest film, The Green Hornet opens this weekend and with it, it presents Seth Rogen's first proper action film and potential franchise. He's definitely come along way from his starts as Judd Apatow's (director of Knocked Up and The 40 Year Old Virgin) go-to guy. You might like to know where he started and what he's been in, well, funny you should want that, because that's exactly what you're getting. Seth Rogen began his foray into comedy at a young age, doing stand-up at 14 in Vancouver and he even wrote the comedy Superbad alongside his writing partner Evan Goldberg at that age. At 16 he moved to Los Angeles and this is where his partnership with Judd Apatow started when he got a part on the shortlived Freaks and Geeks alongside James Franco and Jason Segel. After that was cancelled, he got a part on another of Judd Apatow's projects, Undeclared, a similarly shortlived television show which co-starred Jay Baruchel. Between then and his foray into acting, he was hired as a writer on the final season of Da Ali G Show, and was nominated with his fellow writers for an Emmy. His first film role was a small part in Donnie Darko, but it was with The 40 Year-Old Virgin that he really started to get noticed, alongside Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. Knocked Up was his first leading role and the moment where he became the star he now is. His turn as the immature stoner turned responsible father was what really showed him as a top star, mixing emotion with incredibly funny comedy (a Judd Apatow trademark). From here, he's just gone up and up, appearing in Kevin Smith's Zack and Miri Make a Porno and lending his voice to Monsters vs. Aliens and the upcoming Simon Pegg/Nick Frost film Paul. It was with the film Pineapple Express that Seth Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg showed they had the ability to combine action with comedy, in Pineapple Express they focussed it mostly as a comedy but the upcoming Green Hornet film bills itself more as action over comedy. The Green Hornet sees Rogen as the main character, Britt Reid, in the film and Jay Chou plays his sidekick Kato, who was once played by Bruce Lee. Reid is the son of a wealthy newspaper owner, when his father passes away, Reid inherits everything and vows to change his ways and do something with his life. He becomes a superhero/vigilante, to fight off Christoph Waltz in his first role since winning Best Supporting Actor for his turn in Inglourious Basterds. What else can you see Seth Rogen in this year? Well you can see his voice in Kung Fu Panda 2, you can see him alongside Joseph Gordon Levitt in Live With It and alongside Michelle Williams in Take This Waltz. FemaleFirst - James Butlin
