Russell Brand has moved from stand-up comedian and TV funny man to bona fide Hollywood actor as he returns to the big screen this week with Get Him To The Greek.
Like so manay actor do he kicked off his career in TV, after making a name for himself as a comedian and on the radio, with the likes of Cruise of the Gods, Blessed and auditioned for Peep Show.
But it wasn't long before the movies came calling and he made his big screen debut back in 2007 when he took on the role of Flash Harry in St Trinian's.
Penelope followed, although that was the first movie he worked on but the release was delayed until 2008. But his big breakthrough role came in 2008 with Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
It was the first time that we got a look at Aldous Snow as he starred along side Jason Segal and Kristen Bell in the Nicholas Stoller directed movie.
When Sarah Marshall dumps aspiring musician Peter Bretter for rock star Aldous Snow, Peter's world comes crashing down. His best friend suggests that Peter should get away from everything and to fly off to Hawaii to escape all his problems.
After arriving in Hawaii and meeting the beautiful Rachel Jansen, Peter is shocked to see not only Aldous Snow in Hawaii, but also Sarah Marshall.
The movie was met well byt the critics and it opened at number two at the U.S. box office, Brand had arrived on the movie scene.
He followed this up with Bedtime Stories at the end of 2008, which also enjoyed box office success, but it's the next year or so that could turn Brand into a bona fide leading man.
He returns to the character of aldous Snow this week in Get Him To The Greek, which sees Stoller back in the director's chair and Jonah Hill and P Diddy on the cast list.
Aaron Greenberg (Hill) gets things done. The ambitious 23-year-old has exaggerated his way into a dream job just in time for a career-making assignment.
His mission: Fly to London and escort a rock god to L.A.s Greek Theatre for the first-stop on a $100-million tour. His warning: Turn your back on him at your own peril.
British rocker Aldous Snow (Brand) is both a brilliant musician and walking sex. Weary of yes men and piles of money, the former front man is searching for the meaning of life.
But that doesnt mean he cant have a few orgies while he finds it. When he learns his true love is in California, Aldous makes it his quest to win her backright before kick-starting his world domination.
As the countdown to the concert begins, one intern must navigate a minefield of London drug smuggles, New York City brawls and Vegas lap dances to deliver his charge safe and, sort of, sound. He may have to coax, lie to, enable and party with Aldous, but Aaron will get him to the Greek.
The film has already enjoyed box office success in the States and that looks set to continue when it is released later this week.
But over the next twelve months the funnyman looks set to mix and match his roles as he moves from lending his voice to animated movie Despicable Me to taking on the role of Trinculo in The Tempest.
There's a second animation on the horizon in the form of Hop as well as remakes of Drop Dead Fred and Arthur.
Get Him To The Greek is released 25th June
