The Other Boleyn Girl is an adaptation of Phillippa Gregory's historical novel of the same name and follows the competition between sister Anne and Mary Boleyn for the affection of King Henry VIII.Rumours have been circulated that Henry (Bana) is no longer intimate with his with Catherine of Aragon as she has been unable to produce a male heir.Sir Thomas Boleyn, in an attempt to bring his family back to prominence, devises a plan were his daughter Anne (Portman) shall seduce the King and give him his son.But the scheme doesn't go to plan as Henry shows interest in Anne's younger sister Mary (Johansson).Mary is pressured by her family to provide the King with a boy, despite already being married. But she finds herself falling for the King.But Anne has not given up her hopes of becoming Queen her desire for the throne outweighs sisterly love as she embarks on a plan that tears her family apart and leads to her famous downfall.
