How proud must it feel for your little bundle of joy to grow up and become a rich, talented actor or actress? I’m sure it feels wonderful. But for some families one successful movie star just isn’t enough. It seems like everywhere we turn a younger brother or sister has cropped up and stolen the limelight from their sibling. I guess that some families have talent rooted in their genes.
The Hemsworth Family:
This family has been graced with good looks and talented actors. Let’s start with the youngest of the brothers, Liam Hemsworth. You may have most recently seen him in the hugely successful film The Hunger Games, where he plays brooding best friend Gale. With two more books in the series Liam is set to be part of one of the most popular trilogies of this time. You may have also seen him play along side his off screen girlfriend Miley Cyrus in The Last Song.
The middle child of this family is Chris Hemsworth. He is mostly recognised for his role as superhero Thor. The film of the same name enjoyed great success when it was released in 2011 and a sequel is set to be made for 2012. He is also starring in the film Avengers Assemble, as Thor, starring alongside Robert Downey Junior, Chris Evans and Samuel L Jackson. This May you will also see him alongside Kristen Stewart in the highly anticipated Snow White and the Huntsman.
The oldest of the brothers is Luke Hemsworth, who is also an actor. He has starred in a number of TV series including Last Man Standing and Tangle. He also had a part in Neighbours, just as both of his younger brothers previously did.
The Olsen Family:
Mary- Kate and Ashley Olsen are one of the most famous twins in the world. Their career started at the young age and the first movie they appeared in was To Grandmother’s House We Go, in 1992. From then on the pair were cast in many movies and films including Two Of A Kind, So Little Time and Mary-Kate and Ashley In Action. New York Minute was the last film they appeared in together. Mary- Kate has recently been seen in TV series Samantha Who? and the film Beastly.
But their younger sister Elizabeth Olsen has also taken up acting as a career. She most recently has been in the film Silent House, where she plays a young girl who is terrorised in an old, derelict house. Future roles will include Therese Requin, in a film with the same name, in which she appears alongside Harry Potter star Tom Felton.
The Franco Family:
James Franco, the oldest of the two brothers who are acting, got his first break in 1999, when he was cast as leading character in the TV series Freaks and Geeks. The show was popular, but short-lived. The movie that shot him to international stardom was Spiderman, in which he plays Peter Parker’s best friends, Harry Olsen. The third instalment also sees him play villain the New Goblin. Other recent films that he has been cast as the leading role are 127 Hours and Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
James Franco’s younger brother Dave is also an actor. He has had parts in both Superbad and Fright Night. The young actor also starred in the hit TV series Scrubs as Cole Aaronson. Dave Franco was also lucky enough to star alongside Zac Efron in the heartbreaking film The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud, as his friend Sully. The most recent film you may have seen him in is 21 Jump Street, starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. In it he plays Eric Molson, the school’s popular kid and most importantly drug dealer.
Let’s just hope that sibling relationships remain in tact, as the movie industry is a tough business to succeed in. But then again, a little healthy competition never hurt anyone.
