The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby

Baz Luhrmann is known for delivering visually spectacular movie but a  feature film by him has not graced the big screen since Australia back in 2008.

But all that is set to change as a big screen adaptation of The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald is set to be his next project.

However we will have to wait until December to see Leonardo DiCaprion team up with Carey Mulligan but here is the first trailer for the movie.

The movie sees DiCaprio take on the role of Jay Gatsby as he reunites with Luhrmann for the first time since Romeo & Juliet.

Carey Mulligan is set to play Daisy Buchanan while Isla Fisher, Tobey Maguire and Joel Edgerton are all also set to star in this lavish costume piece.

The Great Gatsby is set to be one of the must see movies of the festive period and could this be one of the early Oscar contenders?

Nick Carraway (Maguire) leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings.

Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan (Edgerton).

It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super-rich, their illusions, loves and deceits.

As Nick bears witness, within and without the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.

The Great Gatsby is released 26th December
