The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

2011 is set to go out with a bang as The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo rounds off the movie year when it is released on Boxing Day.

The movie marks the return of David Fincher to the director's chair for his first movie since The Social Network. Early reviews have been overwhelmingly positive for the movie and it looks like he is going to have another hit on his hands.

Daniel Craig leads an all star cast as he take on the role of journalist Mikael Blomkvist while Rooney Mara will play Lisbeth Salander.

This looks set to be the role that announced Mara on a global acting stage as this is the biggest role of her career to date.

The cast were in London earlier this week for the world premiere and everyone was keen to stress that they have been very faithful to the novel - even more good news as the book is riveting from start to finish.

Harriet Vanger disappeared off the secluded island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger family. There was no corpse, no witnesses, no evidence.

Nearly forty years later a journalist by the name of Mikael Blomkvist gets an unusual assignment. He’s contacted by Harriet’s uncle, Henrik Vanger, who wants him to find out what really happened to Harriet.

Mikael takes on the job, with help from mysterious biker girl and computer hacker Lisbeth Salander.

This unlikely pair form a fragile bond as they dig into the sinister past of this family and find out just how far they're prepared to go to protect themselves - and each other.

Take a look at some images from the movie here. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is released 26th December.
