Chris Evans

Chris Evans

Chris Evans has already tasted the world of Marvel comic movies after starring in two Fantastic Four movies in recent years - sadly those movies were not what they should have been.

But this summer he leads an all action blockbuster as he takes on the role of Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger.

Now of all the summer action movie that are set to grace the big screen over the coming months this is the one that I'm particularly excited about and looking forward to!!

Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail youth in a poor family.

Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Rogers was inspired to enlist in the army.

However, because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected. Overhearing the boy's earnest plea, General Chester Phillips offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment... Operation: Rebirth.

After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the Super-Solider Serum and bombarded by "vita-rays."

Steve Rogers emerged from the treatment with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human.

As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes and Peggy Carter to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull.

Directed by Joe Johnston, the man behind Jumanji and The Wolfman, the movie brings together an impressive cast of Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci, Hugo Weaving and Hayley Atwell.

And this role is one that could be a round for a while for Evans with a potential franchise on his hands as well as reprising the role in The Avengers, which will also star Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo.

Captain America: The First Avenger is released 29th July.
