It's been a very exciting week in the world of movies with the London Film Festival getting under way, yes George Clooney was in town ladies.
But on the big screen this week is the final movie from Heath Ledger, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, directed by Terry Gilliam.
Despite all of this it's the studio news that we are interested in this afternoon so lets find out what's in the pipeline.
- Ridley Scott is currently in talks to make a big screen version of hit channel four drama Red Riding.
According to Variety Columbia have snapped up the rights to the three part series, which was based on David Peace's popular novels.
When showed on TV the series boasted an impressive cast of Sean Bean, Andrew Garfield, Paddy Considine, Rebecca Hall and David Morrissey.
- Ian McKellan has admitted that he possibly will not return to the character Magneto.
In an interview with Empire Online he said: "There's meant to be a Magneto script floating around, but I've not read it, so I suspect it wouldn't involve me."
He continued: "I think it would be about the younger Magneto, and the most I could hope for would be to top and tail that. They can't have someone whose face is as lined as mine any longer!"
There was a Magneto movie in the pipeline and it was suggested at the beginning of the year that the movie's future rested on the success of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
- Despite currently being behind bars filmmaker Roman Polanski is working on another film project The Ghost.
- Penelope Cruz is to appear in the new Sex and the City movie as herself. The actress has been spotted on set this week and she will play her self.
The Oscar winning actress will appear on the red carpet in the movie. It's also believed that Liza Minnelli will make an appearance.
- Hold onto your hats as a second Independence Day sequel is one the way but is being held up by contact issues.
Talking to Latino Review director Roland Emmerich said: "Will wants to do it in some sort of a package they can live with.
"So it's just been in negations now since forever, and naturally Fox says 'why don't you do it without Will Smith?' I said Will is essential for us, for this movie and actually for the audience too."
- Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are not writing the script for Transformers 3.
The pair, along with Ehren Kruger, penned the first two scripts, which enjoyed massive box office success earlier this summer and back in 2007.
Talking to Sci-Fi Squad Orci said: We've been working on Transformers longer than I was in college. I feel like we have our degree in Transformers now.
"The studio was nice to say, 'Oh, yeah, if you guys want to come back then come back'. But, we never want to do that, unless we have an idea. We always think the best idea should win, and that means opening it up to everybody."
The third movie in the transformers franchise looks set for a summer 2011 release.
