This week sees the long awaited release of sci-fi movie District 9, which sees Peter Jackson return to the big screen in a producing role.
However there have been some interesting developments with movies in the pipeline so it's that time of the week to round up the studio news.
- Despite the release date on the Green Hornet reportedly being pushed back five months earlier this week it seems that filming has got under way.
Directed by Michael Gondry the film stars Seth Rogen in the lead role of a millionaire playboy who becomes a masked vigilante who tackles the crime in the city with his sidekick Kato.
Tom Wilkinson, Cameron Diaz are on the cast list and Nicolas Cage is still in talk to play the film's villain.
And while production has begun Columbia Pictures are expected to be sticking to their new December 2010 release date.
- Actor Thomas Dekker has revealed that The Sarah Connor Chronicles may be turned into a movie.
Dekker took on the role of John Connor in the TV show that followed the adventures of Connor's mother, the show has since been cancelled.
Speaking to TVAddict.com he said: "They've spoken about doing a TV movie. Well, not a TV movie, but kind of like a direct-to-DVD movie."
However if the TV show's cast would be involved in the production is still unknown.
- The Three Musketeers is coming back to the big screen in 3D and will be directed by Paul WS Anderson, the man behind the Resident Evil series.
According to the Hollywood Reporter the movie will follow d'Artagnan as he sets out to become a musketeer, meeting Athos, Porthos and Aramis along the way.
The script has been penned by Andrew Davies and Anderson and filming is expected to get underway next year for a 2011 release.
- Iron Man 2 could make it to the big screen in 3D according to Ain't It Cool News producers are currently looking at the cost of releasing the movie in this format.
- He may be over sixty but that isn't stopping Sylvester Stallone as he is currently preparing for a fifth Rambo movie.
According to Variety Stallone will return to the iconic role and will battle drug lords and human traffickers to rescue an kidnapped girl.
The Hollywood hardman, who is currently working on The Expendables, will also return to the director chair for the film.
- It looks like these horror remakes and sequel are not going to go away as a third Halloween movie is currently in development.
Rob Zombie has enjoyed box office success this week with his new movie Halloween II, opening at number to in America.
According to the Los Angeles Times a new movie will be in 3D but Zombie will not be returning as the director.
The film is expected to hit cinemas next summer.
