Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock is the actress that everyone is talking about with two Golden Globes nominations and on course to possibly bag an Oscar nod.

And this week she is back on the big screen with her latest comedy role All about Steve, which partners her with funny man Bradley Cooper.

2009 has seen Bullock’s star rise even higher as her box office power was further demonstrated with The Proposal and The Blind Side.

The Proposal was the romantic comedy hit of 2009 and saw a return to the big screen for Bullock, her first movie since premonition in 2007.

The film grossed in excess of $314 million at the global box office and became one of the biggest romantic comedies of all time.

And when the Golden Globe nominations came around just before Christmas she was given a best Actress in a Musical or Comedy nod for her performance.

The Blind Side sees the popular actress move to a more serious and dramatic role that has proved to be a huge hit.

The movie follows the story of Michael Oher, a homeless and traumatized boy who became an All American football player and first round NFL draft pick with the help of a caring woman and her family.

With The Blind Side Bullock made box office history when it became the first female led movie to break through the $200 million barrier at the U.S. box office.

And while everyone talks about the likes of Angelina Jolie and Julia Roberts no other actress has ever achieved this milestone.

For her performance in the film she has been rewarded wit a Golden Globe nomination for best Actress in a Drama, the winner will be announced on Sunday.

And while she faces tough competition from the likes of Helen Mirren and Carey Mulligan maybe voters feel it’s time to honour this very versatile actress.

And it’s great to see Bullock move away from the comedy roles that we are so used to seeing her in and the success that she has had with The Blind Side we can only hope that this type of role becomes more readily available to her.

Plus in a few weeks time, if she finds herself nominated, Sandra Bullock could well be taking home the most coveted prize in film.

She returns to comedy this week with All About Steve but it looks unlikely to repeat the success of the two movies that have gone before it.

All About Steve is released 15th January.
