Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is set to become one of the biggest breakthrough stars of 2011 when she takes on the role of Carly in Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Dark of the Moon is the third movie in the franchise and the first since Revenge of the Fallen two years ago.

Huntington-Whiteley is best known as a model for Victoria's Secrets and Dark of the Moon marks her big screen debut.

The movie sees her replace Megan Fox in the franchise as she enters the movie as a potential new love interest from lead character Sam.

Sam sees Shia LaBeouf reprise his role while Michael Bay is back in the director's chair for a third time.

Huntington-Whiteley has been modelling for Victoria's Secrets since the age of 2006 and has gone on to grace the cover of British Vogue.

But her career is all set to go in a very different direction this year as she turns her hand to acting.

While she currently has no other projects in the pipeline Transformer: Dark of the Moon looks set to launch her acting career.

Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends.

There's new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime Transformers character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth.

Transformers has become a very successful franchise - both movies collectively grossing well over $1 billion at the global box office.

The third film looks set to be equally successive and is the right platform to launch an acting career - much like it did for Fox back in 2007.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon is released 29th June.
