Rating: 1/5
Now I will happily admit that I have never been a fan of this franchise - simply because it has never had the ability to really scare.
And yet here we are at the fourth movie in the series and are we finally going to get soemthing worth watching... no!
The story takes place in 2011, five years after Katie killed her boyfriend Micah, sister Kristi, her husband Daniel and took their baby, Hunter.
The Story focuses on Alex and her family who experience strange goings on in their home since the new neighbors (Katie and Robbie) moved in the town.
To say that this is a slow burner is a little bit of an understatement as nothing really happens for the first hour expect the fact that Alex has sent up cameras all over her house to watch these 'strange' happenings.
Granted the last thirty five minutes are the most entertaining but we really have seen it all before and by the time we do eventually get to the good stuff you are bored to tears.
Now I don't mind the slow burning effect in a movie as long as it builds tension and suspense and sadly directors Henry Joost and Ariel Shulman fail to do this at every turn.
Sure there are slightly unexplained things going on in the house but nothing that will send a shiver down your spin.
There is no regard for characters or story and everything that was good about the first film really has been run into the ground as the studio tries to capitalise on the success of the first movie.
The found footage format is something that has been done to death and there is just this feeling or going back over old ground with this movie - it doesn't offer anything new or exciting.
Paranormal Activity is a franchise that really has lost it's way in recent years and I think that even die hard fans of the original film will stuggle to like this instalment.
