2013 is going to be a great year if you are a movie fan and while there are some great films on the horizon there are also some stars to watch out for.
We take a look at some of the actresses who are set to deliver some great performances over the next twelve months and it could be a very big year for all of them.
- Jessica Chastain
Jessica Chastain is an incredibly exciting actress who seems to move between genres with real ease - tackling comedy, drama and action projects over the last few years.
And she is an actress that we are going to be talking about in the early part of 2013 as she leads the cast of Kathryn Bigelow’s new movie Zero Dark Thirty.
The movie is already a major player on the awards circuit and Chastain is being tipped as a possible Oscar contender for her central performance.
Chastain will also be turning her hand to the horror genre in the new year as she teams up with actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau for Mama - which is directed by Andres Muschietti.
She has also finished work on The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: His and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Her in which she will take on the title role.
So it looks like things are only going to get better for Chastain over the next twelve months but Zero Dark Thirty looks set not to be a movie to miss.
- Elle Fanning
Elle Fanning is an actress whose star really is on the rise with some great performances this year in We Bought A Zoo and Ginger & Rosa - two very different projects.
She has shown in the last couple of years that despite her tender years she is a versatile actress with Super 8 and Somewhere already on her resume.
And she will be working on a couple of projects next year as she has a Pure Life and Vivaldi in the pipeline.
Maleficent is not set to release until 2014 but she has already finished work on that project as she takes on the role of Princess Aurora alongside Angelina Jolie.
- Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence is one of the brightest young stars shining in Hollywood - and boy is she shining after a fantastic 2012.
She enjoyed huge box office success this summer as she took on the role of Katniss Everdeen for the first time in The Hunger Games before winning over the critics with Silver Linings Playbook.
Silver Linings Playbook sees Lawrence at her very best and could well bag her an Oscar nomination in the new year.
She continues to mix her roles into 2013 as The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is set for release as well as drama Serena, which will see her reunite with Bradley Cooper.
Next year will also see shooting start on X-Men: Days of Future Past where she will reprise the role of Mystique.
- Mia Wasikowska
Mia Wasikowska is another young acting talent who has been making a name for herself in 2012 with the release of Lawless and Albert Nobbs.
Into next year and Stoker looks set to be one of the best horror/mystery movies as Wasikowska takes on the central role of India Stoker alongside Nicole Kidman and Matthew Goode.
The early trailer for the film promises a story filled with twists, turns and intrigue as well as an interesting central performance from the young actress.
The Double, which is directed by Richard Ayoade and starring Jesse Eisenberg, is also set for release as is Only Lovers Left Alive with Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton.
She is currently working on Tracks and there is also a Madame Bovary movie that should start shooting next year.
- Emma Watson
Emma Watson made her first post Harry Potter outing this summer with a touching performance in The Perks of Being A Wallflower, a role that showed there was more to her than just Hermione Granger.
And we are going to be seeing more of her on the big screen in 2013 as she already has a couple of projects in the can.
First up is comedy movie The End of the World which is directed by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen. Comedy is not a genre that we associate Watson with so it is set to be an interesting film as she is joined on the cast list by Seth Rogen, James Franco and Jay Baruchel.
The Bling Ring is also set for release later next year as she teams up with Leslie Mann for the latest Sofia Coppola movie.
- Keira Knightley
This year saw Keira Knightley return to the period genre with Anna Karenina as she reunited with director Joe Wright.
But 2013 sees her take on two very different projects in the form of Can A Song Save Your Life? And Jack Ryan.
Can A Song Save Your Life? Is a comedy/music/drama movie that will see Knightley show off her singing talent as well as her acting skills.
Jack Ryan is set to be one of the biggest blockbusters for the end of the year and Knightley will team up with Chris Pine while Kenneth Branagh is set to direct.
