Early 2012 looks set to belong to Michael Fassbender has he has three superb excited projects, which couldn't be more different, on the horizon.
He is back this week with his new movie Shame, a movie for which he is receiving praise everywhere it is screened.
The movie sees him team him up with Carey Mulligan for the first time and so we take a look at some of the actor's leading ladies.
Katie Jarvis - Fish Tank
Hard to believe that Jarvis has no acting experience when she was cast in the lead role of Mia in the movie.
This is a stunning movie from all involved as it follows a relationship that grows between Mia and her mother's new boyfriend Connor.
This movie isn't so much about a young girl being taken advantage of but it's more about her struggle and neglect - all she is looking for is a bit of love.
The pair play superbly together, hard to believe that this is her first role. And Fassbender plays Connor more of an opportunist that an evil man.
Jennifer Lawrence - X-Men: First Class
There is no real leading lady per say in X-Men: First Class but Jennifer Lawrence is one of the main women in this movie.
Lawrence takes over the role of Mystique while Fassbender plays Magneto as the franchise was taken back to the sixties.
The pair have an interesting relationship; Mystique is afraid to show her true form to the world where Magento believes that she should be proud of who she is.
There is a clear connection between the pair which does all that little bit of spice to the plot.
Mia Wasikowska - Jane Eyre
The on screen relationship between Fassbender and Wasikowska made this movie as they play Edward Rochester and Jane Eyre.
There was a genuine chemistry and connection between the pair and they would together so beautifully.
There is just something so captivating about Fassbender in this role that I have never seen from an actor playing Rochester before.
He draws not only Jane in but the audience as well in what was a stunning performance from the actor.
Carey Mulligan - Shame
Shame brings two great emerging talents together as Fassbender teams up with Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan.
In New York City, Brandon's carefully cultivated private life -- which allows him to indulge his sexual addiction
But this is disrupted when his sister Sissy arrives unannounced for an indefinite stay.
The pair have received praise as well as award nominations left, right and centre for their performances.
They have a troubled and complicated relationship as they both have their struggles and problems.
As you may expect two of the most exciting acting talents around set the screen alight and their scenes together are some of the best in the movie.
Shame is released 13th January
