Mia Wasikowska is an actress who has shown that she is comfortable in any genre as she takes the period drama this week with the release of Jane Eyre.
The Aussie actress takes on the title role in Cary Fukunaga's take on the classic tale - which also stars Michael Fassbender as Edward Rochester.
Wasikowska launched her career back in 2004 in her native Australia with soap All Saints before making her big screen debut two years later in Suburban Mayhem.
Since then she has worked steadily with movies such as September, Rogue and Defiance, which also starred Daniel Craig and Jamie Bell.
But her big breakthrough came in 2010 when she landed the role of Alice in Tim Burton's re-imagining of Alice In Wonderland.
The youngster lead an all star cast that included Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway to massive box office success.
The film broke the $1 billion barrier at the global box office, it was the second biggest grossing movie of the year behind Toy Story and the ninth biggest grossing of all time.
Later that same year she went from blockbuster to family drama with the excellent The Kids Are All Right - alongside Annette Bening, Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo.
The Kids Are All Right is a very intelligent as well as very funny look at adult relationships and the stresses and strains that come hand and hand with them - the fact that it is a same sex couple if merely a footnote; which is a breathe of fresh air.
The movie went on to be nominated for four Oscars, including Best Picture.
This week Wasikowska make a welcome return to the big screen with the highly anticipated Jane Eyre.
And she has a whole host of projects in the pipeline - including Restless, which is directed by Gus Van Sant, later this autumn.
She has also completed work on Albert Nobbs and The Wettest Country In the World and is currently filming Stoker - which also stars Nicole Kidman and Matthew Goode.
Jane Eyre is released 9th September.
