Another British female filmmaker who is going to be showcasing her work at the BFI London Film Festival next week is Lynne Ramsay.
We Need to Talk About Kevin is her first feature film since Movern Callar back in 2002 - but the film has already caused quite a stir on the festival circuit.
Ramsay kicked off her career in shorts, winning the 1996 Cannes Prix de Jury for Small Deaths; a prize she would win for a second time for Gasman.
She went on to make her feature film debut in 1999 with Ratcatcher, a script that she also penned, which was met with great critical acclaim.
The movie went on to win the Carl Foreman Award for Newcomer in British Film at the BAFTA Awards as well as the Sutherland Trophy at the London Film Festival.
She followed this up in 2002 with Morvern Callar, which saw her team up with actress Samantha Morton.
The movie was an adaptation of the Alan Warner novel of the same name and was once again met well by the critics.
But after her hiatus she is back with her new movie We Need To Talk About Kevin, a script she once again penned, an adaptation of Lionel Shriver's 2003 novel.
The movie sees Tilda Swinton lead a cast of John C. Reilly and Ezra Miller, a role that could be the breakthrough performance for him.
The movie premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year where, once again, Ramsay's work was praised by the critics.
The BFI London Film Festival runs 12 - 27 October.
