Lust Caution
It's 1938 and Wong Chia Chi has been left by her father who fled to England as World War II got underway.
As a university freshman she meets Kuang Yu Min who sets up a drama group. When made the leading lady Wong realises that she has found her calling.
Kuang calls together a core group to plan and carry out the assassination of Japanese collaborator Mr Yee.
Wong becomes Mrs Mak who gets close to Yee by befriending his wife and drawing him into an affair.
But after an unexpected twist she flees to Shanghai in 1941, which is occupied by the Chinese.
Her path crosses once agin with that of Kuang, who is now part of the organised resistance, and they once agin plot to kill Yee.
As she reprises her role of Mrs Mak Wong pushes her own identity to the limit while getting dangerously close to the prey.
Lust Caution, which is directed by Ang Lee, is released Jan 4 2008.
