Liam Neeson in Unknown
Liam Neeson returns this week as Unknown is released on DVD and Blu-Ray. With Taken and The A-Team already under his belt Neeson is becoming quite an action hero.
Dr. Martin Harris
With possibly some of the best one-liners ever (“I didn't forget everything. I remember how to kill you, asshole”) and the pure determination to take back his life, the misleadingly-named Dr. Martin Harris is a definite action hero contender.
Played by Liam Neeson in Unknown, Harris shows that you don’t have to be beefed up to your eyeballs to become a fighting machine...this action hero is all about brains over brawn.
John McClane
A physical machine and the king of witty one-liners, John McClane is the epitome of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Nevertheless, with his muscular prowess, dirty white vest and ability to pull off phrases such as “Yippee-ki-yay motherf****r”, McClane is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with.
And we’re pretty sure no other action hero could withstand walking over glass bare footed!
James Bond

Jason Bourne
An ability to drive fast cars in high speed pursuits and his remarkable combat skills, the constant threat of blood-thirsty assassins and, of course, dealing with all of this whilst afflicted by amnesia.
This is why we love Jason Bourne and why he is an indisputable leading action man! Matt Damon makes Bourne the archetype of modern day heroes – hard, but with a soft edge.
Indiana Jones
Who would have thought that an archaeology professor would make such an impressive action hero? We certainly didn’t!
But give Indiana Jones a whip, a battered old fedora and a relic to hunt he is a man who, despite often getting things very wrong, he still manages to walk away the hero. No one could accuse Indy of being over the hill - he is still one of the best action heroes ever!
Lara Croft
An action hero(ine) to give all of the guys a run for their money! Wielding pistol guns and aviator shades Angelina Jolie brings every gamer’s fantasy to life, showing that women can take care of themselves in the process.
Croft’s amazing fighting capabilities and lateral thinking ensures she always has the upper hand and takes no nonsense from the men around her.
John Rambo
Rocket launcher? Check. M-16? Check. Bandana? Check. Implausibly massive muscles? Double-check. All this and more make John Rambo such a memorable fighting figure!
As the tag line states, ‘One war against one man’; you would ALWAYS want Rambo on your side to fight your battles.
