Over the years we have seen a whole host of singers try their hand at acting - usually those attempts are not really that successful.
But every once in a while someone comes along and bucks that trend… and it looks like Justin Timberlake is doing exactly that.
The former N*SYNC singer has made quite an impact on the big screen in the last eighteen months or so moving from drama to comedy and this week to sci-fi.
So does JT’s career lie on the big screen in stead of music?
Timberlake may have kicked off his acting career in the likes of Edison and Alpha Dog at the beginning of the noughties but tit was The Social Network that really showed off his acting potential.
When the David Fincher first hit the big screen there was some talk that he may bag a Best Supporting Actor Oscar - but it was not to be.
And 2011 really has been his year when it comes to movie as he has mixed and matched his roles, starting with Yogi Bear.
Timberlake lent his voice to the movie as Boo Bo alongside Dan Aykroyd.
Comedy isn’t always a genre that actors lean towards but Timberlake showed that he was more than capable of getting laughs from an audience with Bad Teacher & Friends With Benefits.
In Friends With Benefits he showed that he was more than capable of leading a cast as he teamed up with Mila Kunis.
The pair has sparkling chemistry and it was a relationship that just seemed so natural and genuine.
But this week he switches comedy for sci-fi as he stars in Andrew Niccol’s new movie In Time - which sees him tackle his first major action role.
Yes we are going to see JT go a little kick ass this week with this high octane movie, which sees him team up with Amanda Seyfried.
And it looks like his career is going to go from strength to strength as he is rumoured to be in talks to appear in the new Coen brothers movie.
Inside Llewyn Davis will be the first movie for Joel & Ethan Coen since True Grit at the beginning of the year.
Academy Award nominated actress Carey Mulligan is already attached to the movie and Timberlake could be taking on the role of her husband in the movie.
So it seems that Justin Timberlake will be sticking around on the big screen for some yet after making an incredibly successful transition from the music world.
