Jena Malone steps into the big budget movie for the first time this week as she takes on the role of Rocket in Sucker Punch.
It will be the first time that she has been on the big screen since Five Star Day last year, after working on a couple of shorts.
Directed by Zack Snyder the actress joins a string female line-up of Emily Browning, Jamie Chung, Vanessa Hudgens, and Abbie Cornish.
Rocket is the wild card of the group the most the most outspoken of the five girls.
A young girl is institutionalised by her abusive stepfather. Retreating to an alternative reality as a coping strategy, she envisions a plan which will help her escape from the mental facility.
Over the years Malone has mixed and matched her roles moving from cult classic Donnie Darko to the adaptation of Pride and Prejudice - as well as animation as she lent her voice to Howl's Moving Castle.
More recently she found success in the critically acclaimed Into The Wild, which was directed by Sean Penn.
The Messenger and The Soloist have been her projects in the last couple of years but Sucker Punch marks her move into a more CGI driven project.
And 2011 looks set to be a busy year as she has already completed work on The Wait, which also stars Chloe Sevigny, and Jack and Diane alongside Juno Temple.
Sucker Punch is out 1st April.
