This weeks sees the release of Quantum of Solace on DVD with Daniel Craig taking on the role of super spy 007 for the second time.
So to celebrate one of Britain's best movie franchises FemaleFirst takes a look at some of Bond's best moments over twenty two movies.
- 'I Expect You To Die'
1964's Goldfinger, the first Bond movie in the sequence, brought us one of 007's most notorious villains in the form of Auric Goldfinger, played by Gert Frobe.
Having eventually captured out hero Goldfinger has him strapped into a death machine. Bond being Bond tries to talk his way out of the situation resulting in one of the franchises most famous lines.
Bond: You expect me to talk?
Goldfinger: 'No, Mr Bond, I expect you to die.' It's a classic!
- The Name's Bond. James Bond
Never before has an introduction been so brilliant the simple line of 'Bond. James Bond.' has now become one of film's most iconic lines.
And it was Sean Connery in Dr No, as he lit up a cigarette, that uttered those words for the very first time. Every actor who has played the role would go on to utter the same sentence.
- The Spy Who Loved Me
Bond may be known as a bit of a womaniser, ok a lot of a womaniser, but his patriotism and service to his country is another thing that he feels very passionate about and this was all to evident in The Spy Who Loved Me.
As if skiing off a 3,000 foot cliff wasn't exciting enough audiences burst into applause when Bond's, who was played by Roger Moore, parachute was emblazoned with a Union Jack. Rule Britannia!
- The AMC Hornet's Barrel Roll
It's widely recognised that The Man With the Golden Gun was not one of the franchise's most exciting movies except for one great moment.
of course I'm talking about when the AMC Hornet, complete with Bond and Sheriff J.W. Pepper jumps over a Thai river barrel rolling in mid air before landing on all four wheels.
And what's even more amazing the stunt man performed the daredevil stunt in just one take.
- Tracy's Death
Just when you thought that Bond had found happiness at the end of On Her majesty's Secret Service when he marries Tracy is all comes crashing down in a rather downbeat and somewhat depressing ending.
The end of the 1969 movie Tracy is shot in the head and the last scene of the film we see Bond cradling her lifeless body.
- Bond's Daredevil Jump
In 1995, after a six year hiatus, Bond was back in the form of the very popular Pierce Brosnan with one of the franchise's most memorable openers.
Verzasca Dam in Switzerland and Bond is ready to perform one of his most daredevil stunts to date attaching himself to a steel cable he jumps, yes all 772 feet of it.
- Death By Paint
And interesting way to meet your end but after Jill Masterson has hopped into bed with 007 she meets a rather uncomfortable end in Goldfinger.
Bond is knocked out by Goldfinger's servant Oddjob and when he wakes he finds Jill dead on the bed covered in gold paint suffering epidermal suffocation. Nice!
- Punch Up on the Orient Express
Sean Connery again this time in From Russia With Love and it still remains one of the franchises' most memorable fight scenes.
Grant meets Bond on the train, pretending to be a British officer, needless to say that cover doesn't last long and a fight follows.
Bond, quite naturally, gets the upper hand and kills and strangles Grant with his own garrote,
- Daniel Craig
Well we couldn't look at some of Bond's best moments without looking at something from Daniel Craig and it's his pursuit of bomb maker Mollaka in Madagascar that is the stand out moment so far.
007 chases his target over buildings, through a construction site as well as scaling a crane, impressive stuff, as the audience was introduced to a new and no nonsense Bond. Role on film twenty three!
