After making a huge impact in Juno in 2007 Michael Cera has been one of the young comedy talents to keep an eye on.

He returns to the comedy genre this week as he teams up with veteran funnyman Jack Black for Year One, directed by Harold Ramis.

Cera kicked off his career in 1999, at the tender age of eleven, when he appeared in TV series I Was a Sixth Grade Alien before moving onto Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.

But it was Arrested Development for three series, where he really made a name for himself. He showed of his writing and directing talent on the internet when he teamed up with best mate Clark Duke to make a series of short movies.

CBS Television saw them and signed the pair up to write, produce and direct comedy series Clark and Michael.

But his movie breakthrough came in 2007 with the release of both Juno and Superbad. Indie movie Juno was a massive critical hit and catapulted Cera and leading lady Ellen Page to stardom.

Ellen Page stars as Juno, a witty teenage girl whose boredom doesn't lead her to the mall. Instead, she makes a one-time trip into the arms of her best friend Paulie Bleeker (Cera).

When Juno discovers that she's pregnant, she's forced to grow up fast as she tries to find adoptive parents for her quickly growing child.

The film was one of the most raved about pictures of 2007 and went on to be nominated for a string of Oscars, including Best Picture.

But the success for Cera didn't stop there as Superbad was released hot on the heels of Juno to more critical and commercial success.

Made on a budge of just $20 million the movie went on to gross over $170 million at the global box office as the Judd Apatow, who served as producer on this project, success train kept on rolling.

With the likes of Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill Cera had become one of the biggest new comedy talents by the end of 2007.

But Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and Paper Heart have been a change of direction for the twenty one year old actor but he returns to comedy this week with Year One.

Back in the Year One AD, Zed (Jack Black) and Oh (Michael Cera), two unconventional cavemen, are banished from their tribe for eating from the Tree of Knowledge.

Determined to make the most of their misfortune, the pair set off on an epic journey through an ancient world that will be familiar to anyone who's ever glanced at the Bible.

On the way they encounter a multitude of biblical characters from Adam (Harold Ramis) and Eve (Rhoda Griffis) to Abraham (Hank Azaria) and Cain (David Cross) - already bullying his ill-fated brother Abel (Paul Rudd).

The film has already opened at number three at both the U.S and Aussie box office and looks set to be a success here in the UK.

And the actor remains busy with an Arrested Development movie in the pipeline and starring in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, which is due out next year.

Year One is released 26th June.
