Inglourious Basterds was the big winner at the Screen Actors Guild Awards as it scooped the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

Quentin Tarantino's war movie saw off tough competition from award favourite The Hurt Locker as well as An Education, Precious and Nine.

The movie has been popular amongst the award nominations so far bagging a Best Picture Drama nod at the Golden Globes. losing out to Avatar.

And this success looks set to continue and with ten nominations in the Best Picture Oscar category this year it's almost certain to get a nomination.

Saturday night was a another great indication as to where the Oscars may go in the next few weeks as the favourites walked away with the prizes.

Jeff Bridges' successful awards season continued as he picked up yet another Best Actor award for his role in Crazy Heart.

He saw off tough competition from George Clooney, Colin Firth, Morgan Freeman and Jeremy Renner and now looks the odds on favourite to finally win an Oscar, and not before time!

Sandra Bullock's move into drama The Blind Side is really paying off as she followed up her Golden Globe success to pick up Best Actress.

These are the first big acting awards for the actress as she saw faced a tough category of Carey Mulligan and Meryl Streep, both of whom have picked up gongs in recent weeks, Helen Mirren and Gibourey Sidibe.

There was also no surprises in the supporting categories as Mo'Nique took home yet another Supporting Actress gong for her role as an abusive mother in Precious.

And Christoph Waltz looks a dead cert to scoop the Best Supporting Actor Oscar as he took home the Screen Actors Guild Award for his role in Inglourious Basterds.

Betty White picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award for her career that has seen her work on TV and film.

When picking up her award from The Proposal co-star Sandra Bullock she said: "Seventy-one years ago when I sang on an experiment thing and it was called television, who would have dreamed it would culminate in an evening like this."
