Henry Cavill is back on the big screen this week as he teams up with filmmaker Tarsem Singh for Immortals
Produced by the people behind 300 the movie promises to be one of the most stylish films of 2011 and Cavill's star is most defiantly on the rise.
Unless you have been living under a rock for the last six months everyone knows that Cavill is set to take over the role of Superman as the franchise gets a re-boot, in what will be the actor's biggest role to date.
In the early years of his career the actor mixed his movie role with TV as he moved from the likes of The Count of Monte Cristo and I Capture the Castle to The Inspector Lynley Mysteries to Goodbye Mr Chips.
While his movie role continued in the mid noughties with Stardust, Blood Creek and Tristan + Isolde he returned to TV in 2007.
The role of Charles Brandon in The Tudors - a role he played for the all four seasons - proved to be his breakthrough performance.
Cavill had also been in the running to play Edward Cullen in the Twilight Saga as well as James Bond, before losing out to Robert Pattinson and Daniel Craig.
But that career changing role is on the horizon for the actor as he is set to take over as Clark Kent - in my opinion he is a fabulous choice - in the Zack Snyder directed movie.
David S. Goyer has penned the script and Christopher Nolan in on producing duties this movie looks set to be a mammoth smash when it hits the big screen in 2013.
Cavill will lead an all star cast that includes Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane.
But before we get to see him flex his muscles in Superman he will be doing just that this week in Immortals.
Now this is a movie that I have been looking forward to for some time as Mickey Rourke, Frieda Pinto, John Hurt, Kellan Lutz and Luke Evans all join him on the cast list.
Theseus (Cavill) is a mortal man chosen by Zeus to lead the fight against the ruthless King Hyperion, who is on a rampage across Greece to obtain a weapon that can destroy humanity.
And it's movies all the way for Cavill as he will team up with Bruce Willis in the new year for The Cold Light of Day.
It looks like Cavill's star is well and truly on the role and the next eighteen months look set to be an exciting time for the Brit actor - he is one that we should all be really keeping an eye on.
Immortals is released 11th November.
