Early 2013 is set to be a fantastic time at the cinema if you are a film lover and one of the early must see movies is set to be Gangster Squad.
Now I don't know about you but I love a good gangster movie and when you see a cast list that includes Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, to name just a few, then you know that you are in for a major treat.
And we have some brand new images from the movie for you to check out just weeks before it hits the big screen.
The movie marks the return of Ruben Fleischer to the director's chair for the first time since 30 Minutes or Less.
Now Fleischer is a director who has really made his name working on comedy projects and so the gangster movie is a completely new genre for him.
I have already mentioned some of the exciting names on the cast list and this is one of the early ensemble pieces as Giovanni Ribisi, Michael Pena, Anthony Mackie, Robert Patrick and Nick Nolte are also set to star.
Gangster Squad is based on the book by Paul Lieberman, which told the true story of a secret police unit set up in the 1940 and 1950s to get rid of gangsters from L.A.
Gangster Squad looks set to be one of the best movies in this genre that we have seen hit the big screen in many a year - it is also an exciting way to kick of the 2013 movie year.
Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and - if he has his way - every wire bet placed west of Chicago.
And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control.
It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop, except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart.
