Film: Inception
Director: Christopher Nolan
Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Tom Hardy, Michael Caine.
Synopsis: Dom Cobb is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable.
Cobb's rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved.
Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible-inception.
Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one.
If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move.
Critics: “Inception is not only the best movie that has graced the big screen so far this year but one of the best, and most original, sc-fi films that we have had the pleasure of watching in many a year.” - FemaleFirst.
“Inception is that rare film that can be enjoyed on superficial and progressively deeper levels, a feat that uncannily mimics the mind-bending journey its protagonist takes.” - Washington Post
“The first of many major achievements in this memorable and haunting film is to render other people's dreams - not the most interesting of topics normally - absolutely riveting.” - Daily Mail
Awards/Nominations: Inception picked up Movie of the Year at the Hollywood Film Festival and the Best Science Fiction movie at the Scream Awards.
It has also been nominated for Best Motion Picture - Drama at the International Press Academy and Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
