Second feature from Oscar-winning Brit Andrea Arnold about a teenage girl whose mother brings home a mysterious new boyfriend.
Mia (Katie Jarvis) is a feisty, foul-mouthed 15-year-old schoolgirl living on a sink estate with her mum (Kierston Wareing) and little sister, both of whom she bickers with constantly.
She's been kicked out of school and spends her days practising dance moves and drinking whatever booze she can get hold of in an empty flat in her tower block.
One day, mum brings home a new boyfriend, Connor (Michael Fassbender), a good-looking Irish security guard who immediately takes a shine Mia, complimenting her on her dancing skills and lending her money.
A drive out to the countryside holds the vague promise that a happy family could be forming but the chemistry between Mia and Conner is palpable.
Is he merely giving Mia the attention she needs or does Connor have more sinister intentions?
