Over the years Disney have not only brought up some great movies but they have also created some great characters.
To celebrate the release of The Lion King 3D, which comes seventeen years after it was first released, we take a look at some of the greatest Disney heroes.
- Aladdin: Aladdin
Aladdin is a poor but kind hearted thief living on the streets of Agrabah dreaming of leaving his struggles behind and enjoying a better life.
He falls in love with Jasmine, the sultan’s daughter, and tries to win her hand by becoming something that he is not... royalty - with a little help from the genie.
It’s Aladdin’s loyalty and love for Jasmine that shows her father than you don’t have to be royal to be worthy.
-Eric: The Little Mermaid
Prince Eric is saved by Ariel when his ship is destroyed during a storm - he remembers her voice and searches for the women that had saved him.
Sure he gets a little sidetracked when Ursula pretends to be someone that she is not but true love conquers all as Ariel breaks the spell just in time.
The two battle evil together in the swirling sea before King Triton gives then a gift that allows then to be together.
- Woody: Toy Story
Woody burst onto the big screen back in 1995 and has gone on to become on the best love Disney/Pixar creations - returning last summer for the third movie in the franchise.
Woody is a cowboy and the leader of a group of toys that belong to Alan Davis and while he struggles to accept Buzz when he first arrives the pair become great friends.
Throughout the three movies Woody protects his friends as well as remaining loyal to Andy as he grows up.
- Simba: The Lion King
Of course we could look at some of Disney’s best heroes without looking at Simba a character who lit up the big screen back in 1994.
Simba is a carefree lion cub who is being taught how to be King by his father until he is killed.
Made to believe that the death of his father is his fault by his uncle Simba flees and Scar takes up the throne.
But he returns to Pride Rock to fight for what is rightfully his!
- Tramp: Lady and the Tramp
Tramp is stray who lives life day to day and moment to moment - oh and running rings around the local dog catcher.
He comes to the aid of Lady when she is chased by some street dogs after running away from Aunt Sarah and the two Siamese cats.
A relationship blossoms between the pair as the fight to protect the baby and see off the dog catcher once more - a forgotten Disney classic!
