Throughout the year we have seen some fantastic performances from a whole host of actors but there are some that standout a little more than others.
We count down FemaleFirst’s top three actors of the year and look at the performances that grabbed our attention.
And in at number three is the fantastic Daniel Craig who has led the Bond franchise to colossal box office success this autumn.
On the whole it has been a relatively quiet year for the actor - apart from the memorable moment at the Olympic Opening Ceremony with the Queen.
Skyfall is his only movie outing of the year and yet it has gone on to be one of the biggest box office smashes, as well as winning over the critics.
Skyfall marked the third outing as 007 for Craig and his first Bond movie since Quantum of Solace back in 2008.
And while Quantum of Solace was a disappointment Skyfall couldn’t have been a greater movie and all of the film’s success is greatly deserved.
The movie saw Craig reunite with Road to Perdition filmmaker Sam Mendes as the Oscar winner helmed a Bond movie for the very first time.
The movie sees Bond’ loyalty to M put to the ultimate test as he past comes back to haunt her.
The sarcasm and wit of the central character is back as Daniel Craig really is on top form - this is a script and a story arc that really allows him to get his teeth into the character of 007.
We see a more human side to the character than ever before as the audience gets an insight into what he has to endure to project Queen and country and the toll that that takes on him both physically and mentally.
Skyfall is widely regarded as the best Bond movie to ever grace the big screen and it is a movie that has been breaking box office records, left, right and centre - particularly in the UK.
The film has grossed in excess of $921 million at the global box office making it the most financially successful Bond movie in the franchise’s fifty year history.
Skyfall is also the biggest grossing movie at the UK box office as it past the mark of £94.03 million set by Avatar and it could become the first movie to break £100 million in the UK.
And there is plenty in the pipeline for Craig over the next couple of years as he is set to join forces with George Clooney for The Monuments Men - which will see Clooney back in the director’s chair as well as on the cast list.
He is also expected to reprise the role of 007 for Bond 24 and Bond 25 which would take his total of movies in this franchise to five.
There is also the potential of The Girl Who Played With Fire on the horizon as well as Craig would reprise the role of Mikael Blomkvist - The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was released at the end of last year and also starred Rooney Mara.
Daniel Craig may one have had one film release in 2012 but it is a movie that everyone is talking about it could be a film that finds itself in Best Picture Oscar contention when the nominations are announced in early January.
