Daniel Craig

2011 has been a very successful and very busy year for Daniel Craig - and he is set to close it out with a bang as he stars in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

It is the first time that Craig has worked with filmmaker David Fincher as he takes over the role of journalist Mikael Blomkvist.

The actor returned to the big screen this summer for the first time since Defiance back in 2009 as he teamed up with Harrison Ford for Cowboys & Aliens.

Directed by Jon Favreau the movie mixed Western and science fiction genres - something that was not a hit with the critics.

The movie did struggle at the box with its summer release as it had to contend with the like of Harry Potter and Captain America.

He tackled the animation movie this autumn when he lent his voice to The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.

This was the first movie for director Steven Spielberg since Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as he brought the work of Herge to the big screen.

The movie filmed completely using performance capture also starred Jamie Bell and Andy Serkis - in what was the most visually stunning animation movie of the year.

The movie was met well by the critics and it performed well at the box office - it has gone on to pick up nominations at the Annie and Golden Globe awards.

And this Christmas Craig takes on one of his most anticipated movies as an American version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo hit’s the big screen.

The film sees him team up with Rooney Mara as well as Stellan Skarsgard and Christopher Plummer.

The movie follows journalist Mikael Blomkvist as he searches for a woman who has been missing for forty years he is helped by Lisbeth Salander, a young computer hacker.

The movie has already been met with great reviews and hopefully the two remaining movie in the Millennium Trilogy, The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest will soon follow.

And we will be seeing Craig on the big screen next year as he reprises the role of James Bond in Skyfall.

It will be the third time that the British actor has played 007 in what will be the twenty third movie in the Bond franchise.

Sam Mendes is in the director’s chair this time around, as he directs a Bond movie for the very first time.

Judi Dench will also be reprising her role as M while Ralph Fiennes, Javier Bardem, Albert Finney and Naomie Harris are all new faces on the cast list.

Filming on the movie is already underway and it’s set to hit the big screen next October - it looks set to be one of the biggest movies of the year.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is released 26th December
