Famed for his off the wall and quirky roles it seems that Christian Bale has got blockbuster fever after the success of Batman as he returns this summer with Terminator Salvation.
It's six years since Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines hit cinema screens but this summer sees the return of the Terminator franchise for the fourth time.
Set in post-apocalyptic 2018 and John Connor is the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators.
But the future that Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright, a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past.
As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.
Christian Bale was the first actor to be signed to the project after being pursued by filmmaker McG, who revealed that the Batman actor was not interested in the project at the beginning.
But the film has been shrouded in rumours that despite not appearing on the cast list Arnold Schwarzenegger will make a cameo in the movie. Terminator Salvation is the first movie in the franchise that doesn't have Schwarzenegger in the lead role.
And despite the film having not even been released yet there are already of a sequel in the pipeline.
But it looks set to be a busy summer for Bale as he stars in not one but two of the most anticipated movies also appearing in Public Enemies.
He stars alongside Johnny Depp in the crime drama that follows the notorious criminal John Dillinger during the Great Depression.
Bale takes on the role of Melvin Purvis, an FBI agent chosen by J. Edgar Hoover to lead a manhunt to catch Dillinger.
Terminator Salvation is released 3rd June and Public Enemies is released 3rd July.
