After almost seven years away from the big screen this summer sees the return of Star Trek to cinemas.
And like so many film franchises around at the moment director J.J. Abrams has taken the story of the Starship Enterprise and it's crew back to the beginning with a new and young cast.
The fate of the galaxy rests in the hands of bitter rivals. One, James Kirk (Chris Pine), is a delinquent thrill-seeking Iowa farm boy. The other, Spock (Zachary Quinto), was raised in a logic-based society that rejects all emotion.
As fiery instinct clashes with calm reason, their unlikely but powerful partnership is the only thing capable of leading their crew through unimaginable danger, boldly going where no one has gone before.
And while the casting of relatively unknown actor Chris Pine in the iconic role of Captain James T. Kirk raised some eyebrows he won't remain unknown for very long.
However the role almost didn't happen for the young actor who admitted that his first audition was awful.
But Abrams called him part to read opposite Zachary Quinto and the rest is history as they say.
Unlike Hugh Jackman, who we saw yesterday had to bulk up for his role as Wolverine, there was none of this Chris Pine instead he looked back over classic episodes of the franchise to look at the performance of William Shatner.
The young star also sent a letter to Shatner, who has been a little put out that he hasn't been included in the project, who gave his blessing for Pine to take on the character.
But being linked to the Star Wars project hasn't done Pine's career any harm with Bulletproof: Blood On The Sand and Small Town Saturday Night to be released later this year.
Pine has also been linked with the Green Lantern movie, another D.C Comic character to make it to the big screen, in the lead role of Hal Jordan/Green Lantern.
Star Trek is released 8th May
