Our look at the top three actors of the year continues today and it is Channing Tatum who is under the spotlight - and boy has he had a very busy year.
He may have had a busy year but it has also been a successful as he has moved from action to comedy and from romance to drama showing off his versatility as an actor more than ever before.
Tatum has had four big film releases this year and he kicked off 2012 with Haywire as part of an ensemble cast that included Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender and Michael Douglas.
But it was with comedy 21 Jump Street that he really did show a very different side to himself as an actor as he took on a major comedic role for the very first time.
21 Jump Street was a big screen adaptation of the hit TV show of the eighties that made actor Johnny Depp a household name.
Tatum & Jonah Hill are perfectly cast as Jenko ad Schmidt and there is a real bromance going on here that is so fab to watch.
However there is also a competitive streak between the pair and that makes the relationship more complex and interesting.
The pair banters well together and while we know Hill to be a great comedic actor this partnership and script really did bring out a very funny side to Tatum.
From action and comedy he moved on to romance with The Vow - which saw him team up with actress Rachel McAdams.
The movie follows Leo who tries to win back his wife after she loses her memory in a car crash - she doesn’t remember him or their time together.
This kind of sentimental romance may not be of everyone’s taste but it really is a touching tale - even more so when you discover that it is based on a true story.
Tatum & McAdams are perfect together and there is a real spark between the two actors that makes the relationship seems very real.
Magic Mike was the last time that we saw the actor on the big screen and this was a very personal project for Tatum.
The comedy drama saw Tatum reunite with director Steven Soderbergh - the pair had worked together earlier in the year on Haywire - and it was a tale that was based on Tatum’s experiences as a stripper.
Tatum has a huge hand in this movie as he also served as producer in what really became a passion project for him.
And it paid off as the movie was met with great reviews - especially for the performances of Tatum and Matthew McConaughey - and was a box office success.
Earlier this year Tatum confirmed that he was already working on a sequel to Magic Mike but no release date has been set for the project.
Tatum may have had a very busy and successful 2012 and that looks set to continue into 2013 has he had a whole host of projects in the pipeline.
He has completed work on G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which will see him reprise the role of Duke alongside Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis.
Side Effects will be his third collaboration with Steven Soderbergh and will also star Rooney Mara while action movie White House Down will also be released next year.
