Yes the awards season is almost upon up and the British Independent Film Awards have announced their nominations.
And it's Andrea Arnold's Fish Tank that is leading the way with eight nominations with Moon, the directing debut from Duncan Jones, just behind with seven nods.
Fish Tank was the talk of the festival circuit earlier this year and the central performance from newcomer Kate jarvis was highly praised.
The movie is only the second feature from filmmaker Arnold after Red Road but has picked up Best Independent Movie, best Director, Best Actress and Best Newcomer nods.
Mia (Jarvis) is a feisty, foul-mouthed 15-year-old schoolgirl living on a sink estate with her mum (Kierston Wareing) and little sister, both of whom she bickers with constantly
One day, mum brings home a new boyfriend, Connor (Michael Fassbender), a good-looking Irish security guard who immediately takes a shine Mia, complimenting her on her dancing skills and lending her money.
A drive out to the countryside holds the vague promise that a happy family could be forming but the chemistry between Mia and Conner is palpable.
Moon is another film that seen bags of nominations come it's way, including Best Independent Film, best Director and Best Actor for Sam Rockwell.
Other British movies that have done well are the much talked about An Education, which sees itself in the Best Film category as well as a nod for Carey Mulligan's central performance, and Brisht Star, which is based on the three-year romance between 19th century poet John Keats and Fanny Brawne, which was cut short by Keats' untimely death at age 25.
But the Best Film category is highly contested with In The Loop, An Education and Nowhere Boy joining Fish Tank and Moon.
Daniel Day Lewis will receive The Richard Harris Award for outstanding contribution to British Film.
