Film: Bridesmaids
Director: Paul Feig
Cast: Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne
Synopsis: The film centres on Annie (Wiig), a simple and single 30-something Midwestern girl (with poor dating track record) who is asked to be her best friend Lillian's (Maya Rudolph) maid of honour.
However, having never done the job, she struggles to please the snobby, rich bridesmaids at every pre-wedding event.
And one of Lillian's best friends is essentially the bridesmaid from hell (Byrne) - who attempts to take over the maid of honour duties from the inexperienced Annie.
Critics: “Clearly, the film is relying on heavy word-of-mouth, as it doesn’t star any stand-out A-listers, but strong performances and a brilliant script make this one of the best comedies you’ll find all summer.” - FemaleFirst
“Sharply written and winningly performed, it delivers more laughs than any movie released this year, but also, the longer it goes on, develops into a surprisingly poignant evocation of self-scuppering loneliness.” - Daily Telegraph
“An effortless blend of bad taste and good humour with a wholly believable, often very touching emotional core, all centred around one of the finest star-making comic performances in recent memory.” - Time Out
Award/Nominations: The movie has been nominated for Best Comedy at the Teen Choice Awards, People’s Choice Awards & Critics’ Choice Movie Awards.
