No summer is complete without a Pixar movie gracing the big screen. And 2012 will be not different as Brave is set to be their big release.
We have had a couple of years of sequels for the animation giants with the likes of Toy Story 3 and Cars 2 but now we have a original tale and a new heroine to enjoy.
There is set to be a real battle of the animation movies this summer with The Lorax and Ice Age: Continental Drift also set for release - but which movie is set to come out on top?
Pixar have a knack of creating just wonderful moves and Brave is one that I have been looking forward to for some time as it is quite different to the movies that they have released before.
It great to seen a heroine, named Princess Merida, lead the movie; and she is a tough and brave character who is determined to find her own way in the world.
Mark Andrews & Brenda Chapman, both of whom are making their first feature length Pixar movie; Chapman has also helped pen the script.
It has become a bit of a tradition for Pixar to put together a great vocal cast and this time around is no different as Kelly Macdonald will voice the character of Princess Merida.
She is joined on the cast list by Emma Thompson, Kevin McKidd, Robbie Coltrane, Billy Connolly and Julie Walters.
Brave uncovers a new tale in the mysterious Highlands of Scotland where the impetuous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) defies an age-old custom and inadvertently unleashes chaos, forcing her to discover the meaning of true bravery before it’s too late.
Pixar movies are always ones to look out for and the animation giants have been talking and dropping hints about this project for well over a year.
While I very much doubt it will reach the dizzy height of Toy Story 3's success it should perform well at the box office. However Ice Age is already a well established and popular franchise, while The Lorax has performed well at the U.S. box office.
Brave is released 17th August
