All week we have been celebrating the work of visionary filmmaker Tim Burton as we celebrate the release of his new movie Frankenweenie.
And on our final day of looking at his best work it is the turn of Beetlejuice to step into the spotlight.
Beetlejuice was released back in 1988 and was only the second feature length film of Burton's career.
But with this project we really saw Burton take the first step down the path of gothic horror that has become a staple of his work.
The movie starred Alex Baldwin, Geena Davis, Michael Keaton, Catherine O'Hara and Winona Ryder - all of whom give great performances.
But of course it was Keaton who stole the show with his over the top turn as a a freelance "bio-exorcist" ghost.
It is a role where Keaton is allowed to really let loose and have a good time and that really shows in his performance.
Burton seamlessly blends comedy with the macabre in what is both a funny and very dark movie.
And while Burton has gone on to have a very successful career this is perhaps one of the most bizarre and surreal movies that he has ever made.
His imagination has just been allowed to run wild with this movie and yet he pulls it all together to make a really great movie.
Beetlejuice is a movie that was released over twenty ears ago and while the effects now look a little dated it is a movie that I never tire of watching.
This is a movie that showed Burton to be a very imaginative and exciting filmmaker - something he has proved time and time again over the years.
Beetlejuice just is a laugh out loud funny movie that innovative and clever as well as being a lot of fun.
