There have been a whole host of alien movies that have graced the big screen in the last few months but it looks like Battle: Los Angeles is the one that may just blow everything out of the water
District 9 set the standard back in 2009 before the sci-fi/alien invasion genre went quiet - that was until last year with Monsters and Skyline.
But 2011 sees it return as Aaron Eckhart leads an all star cast in Jonathan Liebesman's science fiction come war movie.
For years, there have been documented cases of UFO sightings around the world - Buenos Aires, Seoul, France, Germany, China.
But in 2011, what were once just sightings will become a terrifying reality when Earth is attacked by unknown forces.
As people everywhere watch the world’s great cities fall, Los Angeles becomes the last stand for mankind in a battle no one expected.
It’s up to a Marine staff sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and his new platoon to draw a line in the sand as they take on an enemy unlike any they’ve ever encountered before.
Along with Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Ramon Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan, Ne-Yo and Michael Pena find themselves under attack from creatures from another world as they find for survival.
Now I must admit that I'm a big fan of this genre of film - I loved District 9 but Skyline not so much - and this is a movie that I have personally been excited about for many months.
It's great to see Eckhart in an all action role as SSgt. Michael Nantz and the special effects may Battle: Los Angeles look like one hell of a ride.
Battle: Los Angeles is out now.
