Beautiful, aspirational and blissfully happy Parisian couple Lisa (Diane Kruger) and Julien (Vincent Lindon) live a satisfyingly uneventful existence with their young child, Oscar.
But their lives are shattered when, one morning, the police storm into the couple's home and arrest Lisa for a murder she didn't commit.
To their horror, she's found guilty and sentenced to 20 years in prison. After three years of unsuccessful pleas to the French authorities and one attempted suicide by his wife, Julien has had enough.
Pushed to the brink, he is willing to do whatever it takes to get Lisa out of prison. What follows is a taut, tense and thrilling chain of events that sees Julien collide dangerously with the criminal underworld as this ordinary man resorts to illegal measures to prove his wife's innocence.
