Andrew Garfield

Andrew Garfield

Now I'm always glad to see British talent doing well both as well as in America - and there is no one doing that more so at the moment than the lovely Andrew Garfield.

He has already found success with the likes of The Social Network and the fabulous Never Let Me Go in the last year or so but that will be nothing compared to attention that will come his way when he takes on the role of Spider Man.

Garfield trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama before kicking off his acting career in the theatre.

And the actor made an impact immediately as he picked up the MEN Theatre Award for his performance in the stage version of Kes before winning the Outstanding Newcomer Award at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards for his performance as Romeo.

After this success on stage Garfield moved into TV with series Sugar Rush before quickly moving into movies.

2007 saw him appear in Lion For Lambs, which was directed and also starred Robert Redford, following this up with Boy A.

Boy A was a huge success for the actor as he went on to pick up a British Academy Television Award for Best Actor.

Over the coming years the actor has mixed and matched his movie and TV work moving from the likes of The Other Boleyn Girl to the critically acclaimed Channel 4 series Red Riding.

2009 saw him star alongside Heath Ledger and Christopher Plummer in Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

But it was to be 2010 that really put him on the map as he starred in David Fincher's The Social Network.

He took on the role of Eduardo Saverin in the movie that chartered the rise of Facebook - and it is a role that has been receiving praise left, right and centre.

He has picked up Supporting Actor nominations at the Golden Globes and the Baftas as well as taking home the Best Actor gong at the Evening Standard British Film Awards.

He followed this up at the beginning of the year with Never Let Me Go ,a big screen adaptation of the Kazuo Ishiguro novel of the same name.

The movie teamed him up with Carey Mulligan and Keira Knightley in what is, in my humble opinion, one for the best movies of 2011 so far.

At it's core Never Let Me Go is a tale of morality and a question of what is right and wrong. Do Ruth, Tommy and Kathy have the right to decide on their own future? Should they just accept their fate? And is this type of medicine ever acceptable?

This movie is a very though provoking picture that leaves you with a few questions of your own.

But the hype surrounding this British actor is set to hit fever pitch next year as he takes over the role of Peter Parker in the reboot of the Spider Man franchise.

The story is set to be taken right back to the beginning, much like Christopher Nolan did with Batman, as the beautifully named Marc Webb is in the director's chair.

The movie brings together an all star cast that includes Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans and Martin Sheen and will hit cinemas next year.
