As we bring to a close out look at some of the female filmmakers who will be on show at the BFI London Film Festival Alison Bagnall is the last director to feature.
It has been eight years since she last stepped behind the camera with Piggie and now she is back with her new movie The Dish & the Spoon.
Bagnall has done a bit of everything in her career but kicked it off working on shorts in the early nineties with One Night Stand and Love Perfect.
She moved writing back in 1998 when she co-wrote the script for the critically acclaimed Buffalo '66 with Vincent Gallo - who went on to star in the movie as well as direct it.
Five years later she penned the script for Piggie - a project on which she also made her directorial debut.
The movie was shot in upstate New York and was a bittersweet story of unrequited love.
As well as working behind the camera Bagnall has also dabbled with acting with small roles in Alexander the Last and Nights and Weekends.
But this week sees her return to directing with her new project The Dish & The Spoon - a script that she also penned.
