After nearly a decade an unexpected telephone call makes Dia (Madhuri Dixit) leave her dance rehersal in New York.Makarand (Darshan Zariwala), her teacher and guru, is dying and she must return home to Shamli town. The town that she left on impulse severing all ties with her friends and family.Ut's an emotional and troubled return; not only has her guru passed away but the institution that he so lovingly nurtured is in decay and under threat of demolition.The Ajanta theatre was once the heart of the community and the place wher Dia's fondest memories lie. But it's about to be pulled down because the local authorities feel it's a waste of prime real estate.With the help of Doctor (Raghubir Yadav), the caretaker of Ajanta, Dia sets out on a mission to prevent the theatre's destruction and ressurect the spirit of the Ajanta.In an atmosphere of mistrust, ridicule and active hostility Dia takes on the gauntlet and agrees to achieve the near impossible task of putting together a theatre production.

She must also ensure that every member of the cast is from Shamli town.

She has only two months to save the theatre and prove her point or the bulldozers will be waiting.

Starring Madhuri Dixit, Kunal Kapoor, Konkona Sen, Akhilendra Mishra, Ranvir Shorey and Raghubir Yadav.
