Now the clocks have gone back and Britain enters the dark ages the THINK! Road safety campaign is reminding parents and children to Be Safe Be Seen as the nights draw in.

Child pedestrian road accidents are most likely to occur between the hours of 3.30pm - 4.00pm. In 2006, 32 children aged 4-16 years old were killed or seriously injured while walking in the East of England.

Road safety mascot "Spike" the hedgehog was at the outdoor store in Cambridge giving away Be Safe Be Seen stickers, spoke reflectors, bag tags and road safety advice thus encouraging everyone to wear bright and reflective clothing whilst out and about this winter. .

Well, this is jolly good news and one I have taken on board as my children walk home from the bus stop. It’s just a shame the campaign is not stretched right across the whole country.

Well it is now as I am reporting it to you all. Being bright and seen goes for cyclists too, so make sure the bikes have lights and reflectors on. Drivers are also being told to take extra care and look out for children.

Well this may be not so hard as there is a huge array of reflective clothing to choose from plus lights on shoes, reflective strips across the school bags etc.

So driver’s better also be warned of moving reflective objects - they are, in fact, children.
