As the UK starts to break up for the summer holidays, many families will by flying out to be greeted the other end by a hired car. Most would have checked in advance that the car has the appropriate car restraint if needed.

But there have been horrendous stories of families who, upon taking possession of the hired car, where devastated to find it did not have the correct seats and in some cases, the hire company told them they could buy a booster seat in the local supermarket!

Well, make sure this does not happen to you and look for companies like Hertz who is introducing Britax infant carriers, child and booster seats in the UK and other countries throughout Europe. A fitting service by fully trained personnel has also been introduced, along with multilingual fitting instructions for parents.

The law for booster seats still applies across Europe so to refresh your memory youngsters aged three or more years old and up to 135cm (approx 4ft 5in) in height must use an appropriate child restraint when traveling in cars or goods vehicles fitted with seat belts. Rear-facing baby seats must not be used in seats with an active frontal air-bag.

Customers should book their seat when they reserve their vehicle either online or by calling reservations, who have been trained to advise on the correct seat to choose.

Now, how refreshing is that.
