How many times have you scuffed the back of your best stilettos whilst driving or one shoe’s fallen off very nearly causing an accident? How many of you – like me, was unaware that driving barefoot was actually illegal for the same reason, it could cause a serious accident?

Well help is at hand by those marvellous Sheila’s Wheels people who have unveiled an amazing female friendly concept ‘Sheila’s Heels’ They have designed a safe, flat driving shoe and a glamorous pair of heels in one - all interchangeable at a push of a button.

How wonderful is that!

The footwear design aims to make women safer and more comfortable behind the wheel, without compromising on their style as over 11.5 million women drivers in the UK are putting themselves and other drivers at risk by wearing the wrong footwear when behind the wheel.

A very sensible 17% of female drivers keep a spare pair of ‘driving shoes’ in the car to change into, while the rest of us choose our shoes to match our outfits each day.

Guilty as charged as someone pointed out at the launch of the new Saab this week in Sweden, ‘Jacks, I see you have your sensible driving shoes on again’ referring to my bright yellow three inch shoes that I love.

I only prey they make them in a size 8 and brightly coloured.
