It is the concern shared by many when buying a car: pushy salesmen who are driven by the size of their wallet.
Women in particular can therefore
sometimes feel intimidated, and many prefer to be accompanied to a retailer by either a friend, relative or partner.
A recent poll on the new
website of Motorpoint, the car supermarket with one of the largest choices
of new and used cars and commercial vehicles in the UK, has revealed that
a staggering 66% of people surveyed would actually prefer to be met by a
saleswoman on the showroom floor. Motorpoint, which has five sites across the UK in Burnley, Derby, Glasgow,
Newport (South Wales), and more recently in Peterborough, is already one
step ahead of the competition having identified this issue as a principal
factor in maintaining a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
The retailer, which has continuously adopted a hassle free approach to selling vehicles, has always recruited both male and female sales personnel, not only in the showroom, but also in the telesales division.
This provides added reassurance that sales representatives of the same sex are on hand to discuss the individual needs and requirements of customers.
Commenting on the results of the poll, David Shelton, Managing Director of
Motorpoint explains: "It is well known that the automotive retail network
is a male dominated environment, but we have put resources in place to
ensure that the buying behaviour of male and female customers is clearly
understood by our sales staff,
therefore making choosing a vehicle at
Motorpoint as simple and stress free as possible.
There is nothing worse than being pressured by someone who wants the quick sell, and who does not take the customer into consideration for such an important purchase.
It is not how we run our business."
